tfho—RESEARCH conducted a study titled “Family Planning Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices in Selected Fishing Communities in Ghana.” The study aimed to assess family planning knowledge, attitudes, and practices within coastal fishing communities, while also examining contextual facilitators and barriers to service utilization. Findings from this research provided evidence to inform targeted family planning program implementation and strengthen service delivery strategies in these communities.
tfho—RESEARCH conducted a nationwide retail audit across 120 randomly selected districts to assess the availability and retail prices of 13 essential health commodities. The survey covered 3,885 outlets, including 899 pharmacies, 1,113 Over-the-Counter Medicine Sellers (OTCMS), 695 modern trade outlets, and 1,192 corner shops. Commodities assessed included oral and emergency contraceptives, condoms (including co-pack with lubricant), female condoms, injectables, implants, intrauterine devices, sanitary pads, chlorhexidine gel, oral rehydration salts (ORS), zinc, and ORS-zinc co-packs. Availability and pricing were analysed by region, outlet type, and product brand. Field data collection was conducted between February and March 2024, providing critical insights to inform market strategies and strengthen access to health commodities nationwide.
