Biography
Professor Augustine Ankomah is an international public health expert with over three decades of consultancy, applied research, and programme evaluation experience across Africa, Europe, and the United Kingdom. He has advised governments, UN agencies, and development partners on large-scale interventions in HIV/AIDS, reproductive health, family planning, and adolescent health.
He has held senior leadership positions with Population Council Ghana, where he directed multi-million-dollar programmes, and with Population Services International in Nigeria and East Africa, where he managed, implemented and evaluated complex reproductive health and HIV prevention portfolios. His consultancy assignments have included national and international HIV strategy reviews, adolescent health assessments, family planning market analyses, and donor-funded project evaluations across sub-Saharan Africa.
Alongside this, he has contributed to academia at universities in UK and the University of Ghana School of Public Health, combining rigorous research with practical field application. Widely published with over 70 peer-reviewed articles as well as multiple book chapters, and consultancy reports, his work experience focuses on sexual and reproductive health, maternal and adolescent health, HIV/AIDS prevention, behaviour change, and public health programme evaluation.
